In a shocking lawsuit, actor and director Justin Baldoni has revealed his alleged fears surrounding discussions
with Blake Lively about wardrobe choices during the production of *It Ends With Us*.
According to texts leaked to the public and presented as part of his lawsuit, Baldoni, 41,
openly admitted to being “terrified” of confronting Lively, 37, regarding her costume decisions.
This revelation comes amidst the actor’s legal battle against Lively and her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, accusing them of civil extortion and defamation.
Both Lively and Reynolds have vehemently denied these claims.
The drama unfolded when Baldoni detailed a specific instance during the film’s production where he experienced significant anxiety over Lively’s wardrobe decisions. On the first day of principal photography, paparazzi captured Lively in character, wearing an outfit she had personally selected. The photos of her were widely criticized and sparked backlash, which Baldoni claims caused issues with the production company, Sony. According to the lawsuit, this backlash led Baldoni to approach Lively in her trailer to discuss the matter.
Baldoni’s lawyer provided text messages sent by the actor ahead of the meeting with Lively. The texts revealed Baldoni’s anxiety about the conversation. One message, in particular, showed how nervous Baldoni was about confronting Lively: “Seeing her in ten. Send me prayers — I’m just saying I’ve been ignoring my gut and there’s a few things we need to course correct on. I’m f***ing terrified of saying the wrong thing. Talk after.”
Baldoni claimed that during the meeting, he expressed his concerns about having more control over the wardrobe decisions moving forward. His lawyer highlighted that the wardrobe budget for the film had significantly increased under Lively’s influence. An alleged email presented in the lawsuit noted that the wardrobe budget had “ballooned” far beyond the original estimate, prompting concern among the production team. A line producer reportedly remarked that this was “way more than [she] had ever seen wardrobe go over budget with the initial spend.”
As the lawsuit continued, Baldoni defended himself against accusations made by Lively in her own complaint. She alleged that the meeting with Baldoni had become “lengthy” and delayed filming. Additionally, she claimed that Baldoni had cried during the meeting, causing the crew to wait for hours. Baldoni’s legal team disputed this, explaining that while Baldoni did get emotional during the meeting, it was due to what he perceived as a genuine compliment from Lively, who praised his work as both an actor and director. Baldoni believed this moment was part of a pattern of manipulations by Lively, who was trying to maintain control over her wardrobe choices.
Later on, Lively reportedly requested a second meeting with Baldoni and the producers to further discuss the wardrobe issues. Baldoni agreed to the discussion, which took place after filming wrapped for the day. According to the lawsuit, the meeting occurred in Lively’s trailer, with Baldoni and other producers present, including Jamey, a member of the production team. Baldoni described the situation in detail, saying that Lively’s team, including her nanny and makeup artist, were present as she had her body makeup removed. The lawsuit asserts that Lively was not topless, contrary to claims in her complaint, and was either nursing or pumping breast milk during the conversation.
Baldoni’s legal team also clarified an incident later in the production, when Lively accused Jamey of making eye contact with her during the meeting while she had asked him to face the wall. While Jamey did not recall the event, he apologized if any discomfort was caused. The situation was deemed minor by both parties, with Lively acknowledging that she didn’t think Jamey was attempting to look at her inappropriately.
The lawsuit continues to unfold, with both Baldoni and Lively providing contrasting accounts of their interactions on set. It remains unclear what the final resolution will be, but the ongoing legal battle highlights the tension and complexities that can arise in high-profile movie productions, particularly when personal relationships and creative control are at stake.
