A former staff member from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s household has revealed that their Grammy Awards absence was due to fear. What’s the real story?

As one of the most glamorous and anticipated events on the entertainment calendar, the Grammy Awards regularly draw stars from all over the world.

The star-studded ceremony, set to take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles this year, is known for its dazzling performances, fashion, and celebrity appearances.

Yet, it seems that one high-profile couple will be conspicuously absent from the event once again: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Despite living just a short distance from the prestigious awards ceremony in Los Angeles,

it appears that Harry and Meghan have chosen to skip the Grammys for a second year in a row.

While the ceremony is a major event in the entertainment industry, the Sussexes have opted to stay away, likely due to their recent experiences with the show’s host, Trevor Noah, and Meghan’s growing focus on her new ventures.

The decision not to attend the Grammys this year follows an incident at the 2023 ceremony, where the Sussexes were the target of a joke made by comedian Trevor Noah, who was hosting the event. The “Daily Show” host, known for his sharp wit and political commentary, made a cheeky reference to Prince Harry’s memoir, *Spare*, which had recently been released at the time. In his book, Harry had disclosed a rather personal and embarrassing detail: that he had suffered from frostbite on his private parts during a 2011 trip to the North Pole.

Trevor Noah took the opportunity to poke fun at the revelation when he introduced James Corden to the stage. Addressing the star-studded audience, he quipped, “(He) is living proof that a man can move from London to L.A. and not tell everyone about his frostbitten penis.” The joke, which targeted Harry’s intimate revelation, seemed to hit a nerve with the couple, further straining their relationship with the host. In fact, Noah had previously been a guest on Meghan Markle’s former Spotify podcast, *Archetypes*, before the series was cancelled.

The jibe at the 2023 Grammys was the most public moment of tension, but it is clear that Harry and Meghan have opted for a quieter approach in their post-royal lives. Meghan, in particular, has focused her attention on new projects rather than public events like the Grammys. She has recently become more active on social media, building excitement for her upcoming Netflix documentary series. This series, along with her personal projects, appears to be her primary focus as she continues to build her brand.

One of Meghan’s most anticipated new ventures is her series *With Love, Meghan*, set to be released in March. In this new show, Meghan plans to blend practical tips and candid conversations with friends, showcasing her personal approach to beauty and wellness. The series will embrace an informal, “playful over perfection” approach, with Meghan sharing easy-to-implement tricks and tips for everyday beauty. Despite the excitement surrounding the project, some industry insiders are skeptical, with bookies predicting the show could follow in the footsteps of Meghan’s podcast *Archetypes*, which was cancelled after just one season. BetIdeas has given the series a strong chance of being discontinued before it even fully takes off, due to the mixed reactions from critics and audiences alike.

In addition to the series, Meghan has been working on launching her brand, *American Riviera Orchard*. While she has sent samples of her products to A-list friends and supporters, the brand has remained relatively quiet on social media, with the Instagram account offering little in the way of updates or engagement. It’s unclear whether the brand will gain traction or struggle to make an impact in the competitive lifestyle market.

Despite the challenges faced by Meghan’s various ventures, it seems clear that the couple is steering their focus away from high-profile events like the Grammys in favor of their own projects. Harry and Meghan’s decision to avoid the Grammy Awards this year signals that they are continuing to prioritize their privacy and new endeavors over the glitz and glamour of Hollywood events. While the Grammys may be just a short drive from their Los Angeles home, it appears that they have chosen to focus on their work and personal lives rather than subject themselves to the spotlight once again.

As the Sussexes continue to carve out their own path away from royal duties and public scrutiny, it remains to be seen how their future projects will fare. But for now, it seems that their attention is firmly on their next steps in Hollywood—rather than a seat in the audience at the Grammy Awards.
