Jenna Bush Hager is no stranger to having family join her on Today with Hoda & Jenna.
Over the years, viewers have seen her twin sister, Barbara Pierce Bush, her husband, Henry Hager, and even her cousins step in as guest co-hosts.
However, one request has remained consistent among fans: they would love to see former President George W. Bush join his daughter at the Today table.
But how does Jenna feel about the possibility of her father making a guest appearance?
During a recent interview with Parade, Jenna and her sister Barbara sat down to discuss their new children’s book, I Loved You First.
This heartwarming release, the third installment from the duo, was inspired by their parents’ love for them and their own love for their children.
While discussing the book, Jenna also addressed the ongoing speculation about her father guest-hosting the show, acknowledging the fan enthusiasm surrounding the idea.
“I know, we heard that, we heard that. We’re working on it,” she said, indicating that she is open to the possibility. However, she also made it clear that nothing has been confirmed yet. In fact, she humorously admitted that she had enlisted Barbara’s help in convincing their father to step into the guest-hosting role.
Jenna, known for her lighthearted personality, joked that her father might need some creative persuasion to say yes. “I was like, we need to program a show so he thinks he’s not doing, like, men’s style,” she quipped, alluding to the idea that they might have to tailor the content to fit his interests. She even floated a potential timeline for the special appearance, suggesting, “Maybe for Father’s Day. We’re just gonna throw that into the universe.”
Despite her optimism, Jenna made it clear that fans shouldn’t get their hopes up just yet. “He hasn’t accepted,” she admitted, emphasizing that while the idea has been put out there, her father has not officially agreed to the role.
While it remains to be seen whether George W. Bush will take a turn as co-host, Jenna reassured Today viewers that exciting guest hosts are already lined up for the coming months. “We have some really cool [guest hosts] coming up,” she teased. “I can’t say who, but we are booked through the spring, and we have some really fun ones.”
For now, fans will have to wait and see if the former president will eventually accept his daughter’s invitation. In the meantime, Jenna’s infectious energy and revolving door of guest hosts continue to keep Today audiences entertained. And if her father does decide to join, it will undoubtedly be a must-watch moment for viewers and a memorable milestone for the Bush family.
