Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos’ youngest son, Joaquin, is carving out his own path in the entertainment world. 

The 21-year-old, currently in his final year at the University of Michigan, is set to take center stage in an upcoming theater production in Ann Arbor. 

Following in the footsteps of his famous parents, Joaquin will be starring in “A Few Good Men” at the Power Center, an opportunity that is sure to make his parents proud.

The highly anticipated show opens on February 20, and Joaquin has been deeply involved in the rehearsal process. 

Speaking to the University of Michigan Athletics, he shared his excitement about the production, stating, “I think it’s a really good play. 

I’m a big music guy, and the soundtrack of the play is cinematic. Just based off of the rehearsal process so far, I think this will have the most personal impact on me.”

Joaquin’s passion for the arts has been evident throughout his college years, as he has been balancing his studies in theater with his participation on the university’s wrestling team. While he once grappled with the decision of which path to follow post-graduation, he ultimately chose to pursue acting—a choice greatly influenced by his parents and older brother, Michael. Joaquin even recounted a defining moment when he attended an audition on behalf of Michael, which led him to realize, “I should actually look into doing this. That was the light bulb moment.”

The Consuelos family is no stranger to the entertainment industry. Joaquin’s parents, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, both boast impressive acting careers, while his older brother, Michael, has also ventured into acting. Meanwhile, his sister, Lola, has found her passion in music and songwriting, releasing several singles as she pursues her career between New York City and London.

Kelly and Mark have always been supportive of their children’s aspirations, making frequent trips to Ann Arbor to cheer Joaquin on, whether for wrestling matches or theater performances. They have embraced the University of Michigan community and even participated in local fundraisers, such as the Michigan Medicine Women’s Health Luncheon in 2023. Their unwavering support highlights the close bond the family shares.

Joaquin’s journey at the University of Michigan has been a significant milestone not just for him, but for his parents as well. When he left for college in 2021, Kelly and Mark officially became empty nesters—an emotional moment for the longtime couple. On an episode of Live, Kelly opened up about the experience, saying, “We became empty nesters. We took our youngest son to college, we dropped him off. It was hard. It was really hard. We dropped him off at school and we gave him a hug—it was actually brutally painful. And I said, ‘I did not realize that 18 years would go so fast.’”

Despite the initial difficulty of adjusting to their children leaving home, Kelly and Mark have remained closely connected to Joaquin, frequently visiting him and celebrating his achievements. Over the holidays, the family spent quality time together on a tropical getaway, creating cherished memories before Joaquin embarks on the next chapter of his career.

As Joaquin prepares to take the stage in “A Few Good Men,” there’s no doubt his parents will be front and center, proudly watching him pursue his dreams.
