Blake Lively has expanded her legal battle with her *It Ends With Us* co-star Justin Baldoni, filing an amended complaint
that introduces new allegations and evidence to back up her initial claims of sexual harassment, retaliation, and emotional distress.
The 141-page document, submitted late Tuesday to a New York federal court, highlights the troubling behavior Lively alleges to have encountered on set,
as well as the experiences of two other actresses who are reportedly prepared to speak out about their own uncomfortable encounters with Baldoni.
Lively’s legal team, led by attorneys Esra Hudson and Mike Gottlieb, emphasized the significance of this amended complaint,
which they say bolsters their client’s original allegations.
“Ms. Lively has filed an amended complaint today that provides significant additional evidence and corroboration of her original claims,” the attorneys stated, confirming that the new filing includes previously undisclosed communications involving Lively, her representatives, and other witnesses. This additional evidence reportedly highlights that Lively was not alone in raising concerns about on-set misconduct well before the film was edited. Moreover, the complaint alleges that the retaliation Lively and other individuals faced after making complaints included harassment, intimidation, and threats.
In addition to the sexual harassment and retaliation claims, the amended complaint also includes a defamation charge. Lively’s team contends that Baldoni and others involved with the film made false statements about Lively, further harming her reputation. “Over the next several weeks, we will move to dismiss the utterly meritless lawsuits brought against Ms. Lively and Mr. [Ryan] Reynolds, and we will move full speed ahead with discovery that we expect will reveal shocking details about the depth to which the Defendants have sunk in their unending efforts to ‘bury,’ ‘ruin,’ and ‘destroy’ Ms. Lively and her family,” the statement from Lively’s attorneys concludes.
In response to these expanded claims, Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, dismissed the amended complaint as “hearsay,” criticizing the evidence presented as insufficient. “Our clients have been transparent in providing receipts, real-time documents, and video showing a completely different story than what has been manipulated and cherry-picked to the media,” Freedman argued. He also accused Lively of making public jokes about the case and labeled her amended complaint as lacking substantial evidence. “Her underwhelming amended complaint is filled with unsubstantial hearsay of unnamed persons who are clearly no longer willing to come forward or publicly support her claims,” Freedman added.
Freedman further suggested that the upcoming legal depositions, including those of individuals who initially supported Lively’s claims, would prove damaging to her case. “What is truly uncomfortable here is Ms. Lively’s lack of actual evidence,” he concluded, signaling that he plans to aggressively challenge the claims in court.
A spokesperson for Lively also emphasized the psychological toll the situation has had on other women who were involved in the film. According to the spokesperson, many of these women were initially afraid to come forward with their allegations due to the public scrutiny they feared would follow. The complaint suggests a pattern of fear and silence on the set, with individuals reluctant to speak out against Baldoni out of concern for the backlash they would face.
This legal drama between Lively and Baldoni has sparked significant public interest, particularly as the stars are both highly influential in the entertainment world. Lively, known for her roles in *Gossip Girl* and a number of successful films, has been a strong advocate for women’s rights, making her allegations all the more impactful. Baldoni, an actor and director, has previously spoken out on issues of equality and harassment, which has led to further scrutiny as these legal battles unfold.
As the case progresses, both sides will likely continue to present conflicting narratives, with Lively’s team pushing forward with additional evidence and Baldoni’s legal team preparing to discredit the claims. The outcome of this case could have significant ramifications not only for the individuals involved but also for the broader conversation surrounding misconduct in Hollywood and how such allegations are handled within the industry.
