Meryl Streep left audiences speechless at SNL’s 50th anniversary after casually admitting she WASN’T WEARING U.N.D.E.R.W.E.A.R on stage.

Meryl Streep, the legendary three-time Oscar winner,

made an unexpected and hilarious debut on Saturday Night Live during the 50th anniversary special, much to the delight of fans.

The 75-year-old actress, known for her impeccable range and dramatic roles, surprised audiences

when she stepped into a comedic sketch, marking her first time ever hosting the iconic late-night show.

Streep portrayed Colleen Senior, the raunchy mother of Kate McKinnon’s beloved recurring character Colleen Rafferty, who is frequently abducted by aliens.

This character has long been a fan favorite on SNL, and Streep’s addition to the sketch was a brilliant and amusing surprise.

The skit began with Streep’s entrance, as she declared, “I’m here! Sorry, my bathroom break took longer than I thought. My No. 1 turned into a No. 3.” In typical SNL fashion, Streep immediately made the scene her own, throwing in a blend of raunchy humor and wit. With a grin, she commented, “Us Rafferty gals, we always attracted the freaks. For years, I thought Colleen’s father was part alien, but turns out he was just uncircumcised.” The comedic line had the audience laughing as Streep effortlessly took on the over-the-top role.

In addition to the physical humor and outrageous lines, Streep brought in playful references to her past iconic films. She cheekily joked about being “without underwear” in a nod to her role in The Devil Wears Prada, saying, “This Devil wears nada.” She also humorously described her unkempt privates as an “Into the Woods situation,” giving a nod to her character’s rough, untidy persona from the 2014 film Into the Woods.

The sexual humor continued with Streep’s flirtatious remarks, especially when she interacted with fellow abductee, played by Pedro Pascal. Streep’s character flirted with Pascal’s character, Kermit, saying, “Well, a good mother can also be a baaaad girl. What’s your name, mustache?” Her delivery of these lines added a layer of absurdity that made her role even more unforgettable.

The sketch also included a humorous description of the mother-daughter duo’s return to Earth. Streep’s character detailed their landing: “Basically, it was a free fall for 40 feet with our carpits and our tarpits on full display,” blending her character’s vulgarity with Streep’s innate comedic timing.

Streep’s appearance on SNL was especially surprising given that she had never hosted the show before, despite her illustrious career. However, it seems that the opportunity may have been inspired by her Only Murders in the Building co-star, Martin Short, who is a former SNL cast member. Short, who was part of the 1984-1985 SNL season, has remained close with Streep, and the two have often shared comedic chemistry both on and off-screen. Streep’s debut was, perhaps, her way of honoring Short’s influence while adding a new layer to her impressive acting portfolio.

In addition to her memorable SNL appearance, Streep was also spotted at the SNL 50: The Homecoming Concert alongside Short and other notable figures from the comedy world. During the concert, Streep jokingly flipped off fellow SNL alums Will Ferrell and Ana Gasteyer as they performed a sketch, which led to Ferrell and Gasteyer shooting back with, “We’re talking about you, Meryl Streep. We see you!” This playful interaction between the comedy icons added to the celebratory tone of the SNL anniversary festivities.

As for her personal life, Streep, who separated from her husband Don Gummer in 2017, has remained relatively private. She and Short, both long-time friends, sparked rumors of a romantic relationship, but the two have not confirmed any such claims. Still, Streep’s flirtatious moments on SNL gave fans something to speculate about, especially given the pair’s chemistry on-screen and off.

Streep’s debut on SNL was a highlight of the 50th anniversary special, proving that even the most revered dramatic actors can effortlessly tap into their comedic talents. Fans of her work will be eagerly anticipating more comedic roles from the actress, and perhaps this appearance is just the beginning of Streep’s exploration of comedy in the latter stages of her career.
