Nicolas Cage’s ex-girlfriend, Christina Fulton, has filed a lawsuit against the Hollywood actor and their 34-year-old son, Weston Coppola Cage, following an alleged assault incident.
According to court documents obtained by People magazine, Fulton, 57, claims that Cage, 61,
disregarded their son’s ongoing mental health struggles and played a role in enabling his alleged violent behavior.
The lawsuit states that Weston has a long-standing history of psychological disorders and violent tendencies, which have reportedly resulted in harm to multiple individuals.
Fulton argues that Cage has been well aware of their son’s struggles yet failed to take appropriate action to prevent violent incidents from occurring.
Allegations Against Nicolas Cage
Fulton alleges that Cage has repeatedly supported their son by bailing him out of jail multiple times and engaging in activities such as drinking alcohol with him, despite being aware of his substance abuse issues. She asserts that rather than seeking professional psychiatric help for Weston, Cage allowed him to lead what she describes as a “reckless” lifestyle.
“Nicolas has been aware of Weston’s history and nevertheless failed to take action to prevent Weston from committing acts of violence and harming others,” the lawsuit states, as reported by People.
Response from Nicolas Cage’s Legal Team
Cage’s legal representatives have firmly denied the accusations, labeling them as “absurd and frivolous.” In a statement shared with Fox News Digital, his lawyers emphasized that Weston is a fully grown adult and that Cage is neither responsible for nor in control of his son’s behavior.
“Mr. Cage does not control Weston’s behavior in any manner and is not responsible for Weston’s alleged assault of his mother,” the statement read.
Representatives for Fulton and Weston have yet to respond publicly to the lawsuit.
Incident Leading to the Lawsuit
The legal dispute stems from an altercation between Weston and Fulton on April 28, 2024, at her Los Angeles residence. Reports indicate that a heated argument escalated into a physical altercation, during which Weston allegedly struck multiple individuals. According to law enforcement officials, Weston “punched two victims multiple times,” resulting in injuries.
Following the incident, the case was forwarded to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on May 10, leading to the filing of two counts of assault with a deadly weapon against Weston.
Weston Cage’s Arrest
On July 10, Weston turned himself in to authorities at the Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th precinct, where he was booked on felony assault with a deadly weapon charges. He was released shortly afterward on a $150,000 bond.
Fox News Digital confirmed that the warrant for Weston’s arrest was issued in connection to the battery charges stemming from the April incident. The following day, July 11, Fulton spoke out about the alleged attack, claiming she had been “brutally assaulted” and stressing the urgent need for her son to receive professional help.
Nicolas Cage’s Family
Cage shares Weston with his former partner, Fulton. In addition to his eldest son, Cage has two other children: a middle son, Kal-El, from his marriage to his third wife, Alice Kim, and a daughter, August, with his fifth wife, Riko Shibata.
As the legal battle unfolds, it remains to be seen how the court will address Fulton’s allegations and what impact this will have on Cage and his son’s future. The situation highlights the complexities of dealing with mental health, substance abuse, and familial conflicts within the public eye.
